Sangria, The Snuggie, and a Scary Movie

So yesterday after working in the morning, my favorite co-workers Courtney and Michelle and I decided to see the little movie everyone’s talking about, Paranormal Activity.  For all intents and purposes, I wanted to see this movie purely on my curiosity stemming from its viral marketing campaign.  Not to call them out or anything, but Courtney and Michelle were pretty much freaking out up to the minute the movie ended.  (Love you both!)

Before the movie, we had lunch at On the Border.  I had never been to On the Border before, but that place is kind of awesome.  And it’s a chain!  I guess just because I’m more than a little in love with Mexican food, it doesn’t take much to sell me on a Mexican restaurant.   Unlimited chips and salsa (my ultimate deserted island food)?  Yes please!!  In addition to lunch, we shared a pitcher of Sangria so C & M could calm their nerves.   I like Sangria too.

Luckily for the movie, Courtney had  free ticket coupons so we didn’t have to pay.  This was clutch, because did you know that a matinee costs $10??  WTF? Absurd.  Not trying to sound like an old lady or anything, but movies do not need to cost that much.

What’s a scary movie without the Snuggie? Among the many wonders of the Snuggie, they actually protect you from being scared.  Courtney rocked  a zebra print one.

This woman is my superior.

Aaaand your hair looks hot.

Your hair is wonky.

So Paranormal Activity turned out to be a pretty good movie.  It’s about a couple who start experiencing freaky stuff going on in their house, primarily while they’re asleep.  So the boyfriend sets up a video camera and tapes everything that happens.  The entire movie is that footage.  I wasn’t super nervous because this isn’t a true story or anything, but getting further into it I was really freaked out.  So freaked out that 10 minutes away from the ending I made Courtney (who read the ending online before seeing it) tell me what was going to happen.  All in all, I was happy to have been scared by Paranormal Activity because I would have been really disappointed if I wasn’t.  Success!  I even managed to sleep through the night, which is surprising because A) the folks were out of town and I was alone, and B)  every night there’s a shadow in my room that looks like a man!

So if you’re curious, Paranormal Activity is worth seeing.  Here’s the trailer, in case you’ve been living under a rock for the past month and haven’t heard of it.
